fox talbot museum

Winter’s Bone or a miniature mission? Let’s just say Winter’s Bone can wait, although it may have been good Halloween viewing. Instead we hit up Lacock, a great place to pronounce when looking for directions (small things, small minds), not far out of Bath and in fact the home Fox Talbot – a key figure in the development of photography. The museum was interesting specifically for the miniature cameras from the 60s/70s out of Japan and China and its present exhibition. The shots of negatives were nifty but the anecdotal text that accompanied each image made it. Henri Cartier Bresson protested the use of a picture of two prostitutes because they are old and it would be terribly embarrassing for them. The gardens were pretty neat too. Sadly the tea and cake hunt was unsuccessful.
