Karen Walker sunnies, we love them! You love ’em! But like all sunglasses it can be hard to call out which shape fits your face. Although, hands up who’s bought a pair just because they are AWESOME (Orbit anyone?)? Us too. So we thought we’d put up some photos of everyday folks like ourselves, a few fashion editors and the odd celebrity (for face shape purposes, we promise) in full KW fever.
Here’s our guide to the classic designs and the new sunglasses that are part of this season’s Karen Walker Forever collection.
Sold in crazy tort, the metal ‘lace’ inlay on each arm steps this design up from being a traditional cat-eye shape. It’s not too big, and works on quite a few face shapes.
These frames are mega! The combination of pink perspex and metal lace inlay are a sure fire hit. Make no mistake, these do the talking – Susie Lau blogger extraordinaire, girl she wears them well (with no Dame Edna references in sight)! Under duress Nik’s shot me in the frames to give you an idea of a ‘real’ person in them.
1/ NUMBER ONE
Without doubt, the brand’s bestseller as the name suggests it’s been there since the beginning and returns each season in a new and exciting guise (hello, peach and hello, black!). Slightly oversize, the frame sits flat against the face. It looks really sharp and modern when it works, but isn’t for everyone because of the slight tear drop shape. These ladies know how to rock them!
2/ DEEP FREEZE
A great unisex frame, it has been a hit with schlebs (Charlize Theron and Kate Bosworth) and suits oval and long faces and it’s available in not only classic black but clear too!
These are one of our most popular frames! Why? Because they are signature Karen Walker which means stylish (thanks to the colours) and fun. The super stylish Blair Eadie is a fan of Karen’s frames, in particular this style.
Big! Sixties! Twiggy! Great with short hair, or long hair pulled back so that the specs get all the attention.
Harvest is a pretty sweet combination of Super Duper and Helter Skelter, so the frame is still oversize but the bridge is metal riffing off the shape worn by James Dean. Our lovely customers say this is a lighter frame to boot!
Introduced last season, the bold design sits flat and has quite a thick frame which adds to its retro value. Due to the frame’s weight, it suits smaller faces of all ages. Available in Milky Tan.
