Were it not for this month’s Vogue I would have been pretty slow on the uptake of the make-up talent and Dior brand ambassador Yadim. How awesome is this image? Following in the footsteps of the maestro Serge Lutens, Yadim steps it up with graf-influences and cuts a sharp look of modern minimalism too. Never before have bleached brows and multiple mascara applications looked better.

(Vixen, Dazed and Confused)
His work for Dazed and Confused is of course the least commercial and most spectacular. The story ‘A Scanner Darkly’ sees photographer Daniel Jackson, Karen Langley as stylist and Yadim recreate illustrator Rene Gruau’s famed fashion drawings in 3-D then back in 2-D once again.

(Kenzo SS13)
He works on catwalk shows including the revitalised fashion behemoth Kenzo and NYFW gal Jen Kao having started as a cashier on a MAC counter followed by an assistant’s role with Pat McGrath. And true to form worked solidly to get there, check this article in the New York Times where he recounts flying himself to London, staying in a hostel and then a “ghetto dive hotel” for his first big break of a Dazed and Confused cover.
