While nostalgia is churned out with regularity – see The A-Team and Karate Kid film remakes for this week’s most wanted – there is still a niche for cheap programming beyond docu-soaps or Big Brother. As anyone under the age of 35 will know, past episodes of Friends is repeated nigh on 18 hours a day but there are of course channels dedicated to repeats from further in the past, and while I balk at watching Auf Wiedersehen Pet again this morning I caught a family (well, Mum and I) favourite: The House of Elliot.

Set in 1920s London, the BBC production tells the story of the bereft and penniless Elliot sisters who seek to open their own fashion house. Of course there is all the regular antics of love and deception which only makes it better frankly. Personally I recalled the amazing headwear Bea used to wear. Girl loved a scarf.
