My position when it comes to reading is reflected in the knowledge that I’ve seen a film of my favourite kids book, more than I’ve reread the literature itself. When I tell you that book is Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory a clear irony permeates. One that would leave Dahl rolling in his grave and me seeming more like Mike TV than Charlie. Today, I’m reading The Great Gatsby so that I’ll be familiar with the references before Baz Lurhmann’s movie is released. Having exposed my love of popular culture, I suspect it’ll be no surprise for you to learn that I really enjoyed I’m With the Band, Pamela Des Barres’ account of her time on tour with Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Gram Parsons and briefly acting as the Zappa family nanny. Discovering Michael Cooper’s photos at the Joshua Tree from 1969 reminded me why that era is just so darn attractive (side note: check out Midnight in Paris for a wink to nostalgia – awesome poster too!). Who cares whether Marianne Faithful was or wasn’t caught with a Mars bar and a fur coat, they at one point every so often, lived in a golden age.

When we received our latest designs from Decadorn, the rugged facets on the strict ring structure coupled with the deep reds that would become sediment layered browns and blacks totally reminded me of these images. Heck, you can even imagine Anita stacking her bracelets, adorned in semi-precious rings whilst sharing a Pendleton blanket.
